Our Vision

“A PLACE WHERE YOUR FAMILY CAN FIND THEIR PLACE IN GOD’S FAMILY”

This statement is not just another catchy phrase that sounds nice and comfortable; it is a definite statement of what our church is all about. What does it really mean then?

We believe that Satan’s primary target, maybe today more than ever before, is the home. If he can destroy the home by ending marriages, causing kids to be rebellious and keep strife and contention constantly stirred up, then he has to feel fulfilled. If our homes are destroyed, then our community is in disarray, and of course the church will be in shambles. The home is the lifeline to everything.

God has placed a definite burden and vision on the heart of our church to be a place where the home has a chance to survive. A home built on anything other than Christ doesn’t have a chance, and yet even a Christian home has to have the protection of God to survive. No home is off limits to the fiery darts of Satan.

With much prayer and listening to God’s direction, it is our desire to be a 21^st Century church much like the children of Issachar were in I Chronicles 12:32. They were people who had an “understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do…”  We’ve prayed for a vision of our nation and communities current condition and how we can counter the attack that Satan has planned for the family. By the help of God we’re going to build Godly families one brick at a time through:

I.      MEN’S MINISTRY:  Every month the men of the church will meet for Bible Study and fellowship. The Bible Studies will be on topics that men specifically struggle with. We’ll never get stronger if we don’t get serious with what is out there.  We’ll also have outings and outreach projects to work on. This is also a great way to bring unsaved men in to hear the Word and be touched. If we can build better men, dads and husbands through God’s Word, the home has better chance of surviving.

II.    WOMEN’S MINISTRY:  Our ladies already meet every month and have a solid ministry that uplifts our church and others. They’ll continue and model their group after the men; to have monthly Bible Study on topics that women specifically struggle and deal with. This also is and has been a great way to reach unsaved ladies in the community. If we can build better women, moms and wives through God’s Word, the home has a chance of surviving.

III.   CHILDREN AND YOUTH MINISTRY:  Through our Sunday School and NYI (Nazarene Youth International) ministries, kids and teens are taught Bible principles every Sunday. Our teens meet every Sunday night @ 6pm already. They share, learn, and plan activities together.  They have many outings and outreach opportunities throughout the year. If we can build solid children, youth and young adults through God’s Word, the home has a chance of surviving.

IV.   FAMILY STRENGTHENING EVENTS:  Beginning in 2005, two brand new events will become staples on our church calendar. One is a Church Family Retreat. In the Spring we will descend on our district campground, Mt Hope in Flemingsburg, for an overnight experience of fellowship, worship, study and bonding. The entire church is invited, and we can bring guests to let them see how the church family fellowships together. Today’s family needs to do more together and this is a way for the church to provide that.  The other new event is a Marriage Retreat. This will be late summer or early Fall, and be a time where mom and dad can get away briefly and concentrate on each other, seeking God’s direction in their home and marriage. We believe they can go home more confident in God’s will for their marriage and family.

Hopefully you can see the strategy God has laid out for us. To build Christ-centered families we’ll constantly be strengthening each component: Dad, Mom and Kids. This in turn will build a church family that is stronger and even more dependent on the Lord.  We hope to be a beacon to other moms, dads, and kids of Morehead, Kentucky as well. We want to let them know that all of our families together make up one big family with God as our Father!  From here on out, we hope to hold true to our Vision/Purpose Statement: A Place Where Your Family Can Find Their Place in God’s Family.”
